Meditate
Read Exodus 13:20-22.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified… God will go with you; He will never leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

Sing
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord. Most High.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower.
The righteous run into it and they are saved.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower.
The righteous run into it and they are saved.

Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord. Most High.

Message
Have you ever felt alone? Have you ever felt alone in a crowded room or with friends and family that love you? There have been times that I just could not turn to anyone. I felt alone and it seemed that nobody could understand what I was going through.

Many times in the Bible we find God’s reassuring words that say, “I’ll be with you always”, “You are not alone”, “I am here.” In those times of loneliness, call on God. He will be faithful to let you know he is there and he understands. Yes, even God understands rejection, disappointment, hurt, prejudice, temptation and abandonment.

Blessing
Give away what you Create today.

Move
Take a walk in or near the water.

Create
Using whatever media you have available, create a symbol (cross, dove or otherwise) that will remind you that God is with you always. Consider something you can carry in your car, purse or wallet. Make several of them to pass out to the young people in your church or community.

Nourish
Look online and see what the Israelites would have eaten at the Passover. Have something from that meal.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Visit the local humane society and play with the animals.

Pray
Look up your favorite song. Say it as a prayer. Mediate on the words.

Snacks
Have some frozen yogurt and fresh fruit.

World Prayer
Pray for the people of Mexico, who are caught up in the drug wars. Pray for the freedom of Mexico.

Sleep
As you fall asleep, sense the presence of God. He is with you. Find yourself resting in him.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Life Lesson: February 20

20 Feb

There is no question about the greatness of God. The question is, “How do you see God?”

Meditate

Read Job 38. Meditate on the greatness of God.

Sing
Chorus
Then sings my soul My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

Verse 1
O Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy pow’r thru’out
The universe displayed

Verse 2
When thru the woods
And forest glades I wander
And hear the birds
Sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook
And feel the gentle breeze

Verse 3
And when I think
That God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die
I scarce can take it in
That on the cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died
To take away my sin

Verse 4
When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
My God how great Thou art

Message
So often we make light of who God is. Have you ever said something like, “The Man Upstairs”, “Oh My God” (as an expletive), “Boy, are we lucky”, or “God forbid”? At times, we treat God like Grandpa or Santa. We do not come to worship prepared and excited to meet our God and Maker. We see these attitudes about God in society and it is sad to think that we treat Him in this way. We hold God responsible for tragedies such as school shootings and terrorist attacks, but will not allow God in our schools or court rooms. We blame him for a child with cancer, yet abortion is legal. We cry out to him over wars and death and we make laws that forbid our military men and women to pray in the name of Jesus.

Job and his friends spent 35 chapters arguing over what they thought they knew about God and finally God set them straight. “Brace yourself like a man”, he told Job. Job’s only response was, “I will put my hand over my mouth.” All through the Old Testament, God refers to himself as, “The Lord Your God.” This is like my Mother saying, “Because I am the Mother, that’s why!” Isaiah declared the end of himself when he saw God and John fell over as dead. We cannot stand against the greatness of God. We should be silenced against God’s beauty and might.

There is no question about the greatness of God. The question is, “How do you see God?” How do you live, speak, and think, knowing that God sees, hears, and knows all? Do we live a life reflecting the question: “Who does God think he is?” or do we live a life that reflects that we really know who God is?

Blessing
Buy a small plant and take it to a young mother.

Move
Make up motions as you sing: This is My Father’s World
Verse 1
This is my Father’s world
And to my listening ears
All nature sings and round me rings
The music of the spheres
This is my Father’s world
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought

Verse 2
This is my Father’s world
The birds their carols raise
The morning light the lily white
Declare their Maker’s praise
This is my Father’s world
He shines in all that’s fair
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass
He speaks to me everywhere

Verse 3
This is my Father’s world
O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong
God is the Ruler yet
This is my Father’s world
The battle is not done
Jesus who died shall be satisfied
And earth and heaven be one

Create
Get out your crayons and paper today. Draw a picture and let God speak to you about it.

Nourish
Eat something that God made. Just the way he made it. Do not cook it or change it.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Take some pictures of the world around you. Get some pictures of grand sights and get some of very tiny ones.

Pray
Worship today. If it is hard for you to just worship for a period of time, set the timer for 10, 15 or 30 minutes and just worship. Sing, pray, read a psalm, but do not ask God for anything. Just Praise the Lord!

Snacks
Eat a pomegranate and be amazed at what God created.

World Prayer
Go out and clean up some of God’s creation. Pick up some trash or find another need.

Sleep
As you go to sleep tonight: thank God that in his creation, he included sleep.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Life Lesson: January 2

Meditate
Read Hebrews 11:1-40.
Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses… – Hebrews 12:1a

Sing
“Faith of our fathers living still,
in spite of dungeon, fire and sword.
O how our hearts beat high with joy
whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.”

Message
I just turned 40. That is not very old, but I can’t help wonder what will people remember when my time is done here.  Will I be counted in the “Great Cloud of Witnesses” that encourages others not to lose heart? Will people remember me and say, “Look what God did in her life and look what He can do for me”?

If I want to be remembered for what God did in my life, then I must live a life that reflects God. If I am easily angered, unforgiving or impatient, that is what people will remember. If I am a worrier instead of a pray-er, God will not be glorified.

Hebrews 11 gives us a list of people who were not perfect, but devoted themselves to obedience and service to God. As a result, we remember them thousands of years later and know that what God did for them, He can do for us.

If we step out in faith, God will bless us. We can choose to share the story or keep it to ourselves. We can choose to give the glory to God or keep it for ourselves. Hopefully, God is revealed through our lives.

Blessing
Pray for the people of the place you found today during Creatives.

Move
Do the Hokey Pokey, but put your burdens in and take your blessings out. Put your burdens in and give the Lord a shout! Give Your life to Jesus and he’ll turn your life about. That’s what it’s all about. Make up other negatives to “put in” and positives to “take out”.

Create
Take a globe and spin it. Let your finger land on it and see where you are. Look that place up on the Internet and find out more about it. Who are their leaders? What are their needs? Check out Google Earth®  to get a better look at it. See if there are children from this place in Compassion ® International.

Nourish
Include something from another culture.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Play a game with someone.

Prayer
Go to your church and either inside or out, walk around and pray for the people of the church. Remember to be thankful for those who have gone on before and ask God for his will in the future.

Snack
Eat raw vegetables.

World Prayer
Pray for students around the country who are struggling to see God in a world that is so unfriendly to God and Christians.

Sleep
Before falling asleep, thank God for someone in your past who was an inspiration to you and your walk with God.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Life Lesson: December 19

19 Dec

Meditate
Read Romans 5:3-5.
God said, “I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army”… – Exodus 14:4

Sing
“To God be the glory, great things he has done.
So loved he the world that he gave us his son.
Who yielded his life, an atonement for sin
and opened the life gates that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord,
let the earth hear his voice.
Praise the Lord, praise the lord,
let the people rejoice.
O Come to the Father, through Jesus the son
and give him the glory, great things he has done.”

Message
Why do I have to deal with people who want to hurt me? Why do I have to struggle with lack of finances? Why did I have to go through, not one, but two divorces? Why did my children have to feel such pain? Why did my friend have to die? Why have I had to cry all of the tears? Why, Why, Why? Why, in my 39 years, have I had to cope with so much garbage?

3,300 years ago, God took the Israelites through the Red Sea. Why did they have to “run” from Pharaoh and his armies? Why did they have to fear? Because 3,300 years later, we are still praising God and giving him glory for what he did.

Many times I have been able to minister to people, share their pain and help them. How? By giving glory to God and telling the stories about how he brought me through my bad times. Paul says that our struggles produce perseverance than character, and then hope. Sharing that hope with a hurting world makes sense out of my difficulties.

Blessing
Write out a prayer for the teachers and administrator of your school district. Sign it and put it in a thank you card. Mail it.

Move
Make up some motions to today’s song.

Create
Buy some inexpensive paints at your local grocery store and paint a picture, representing the glory of God.

Nourish
If you dine out, make sure you leave a generous tip and a note the tells the staff Jesus loves them. Do not over spend on your meal, so you have extra to leave for the tip.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Play ball with some neighbor kids or watch them play. Go to a local sporting event.

Prayer
Invite two or three friends over to pray. Meet somewhere if it is more convenient. You can spend 10-15 minutes or an hour.

Snack
Take fruit snacks to the sporting event and take enough for the entire team. Take enough for the opposing team too.

World Prayer Broadcast
Pray for the affiliate organizations of ACFO North America. United Prayer Tower (UPT) and CFO International (CFOI)

Rest
Go to sleep tonight, singing today’s song. See if you wake up singing the same song.

Life Lesson: November 21

21 Nov

Meditate
Read Exodus 13:17-22. In Exodus 13:17b, God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”

Sing
“When we walk with the Lord, in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will, he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.”

Message
Why couldn’t we make this work? The banks, the lawyers, the seller…  All we wanted was to own our own home. The house would be perfect, or so we thought. We had rented it for a time and thought that it would be good.  It had enough bedrooms and a big yard. Yes, it needed some work, but we could do that over time.

Less than a year after we had to give up the dream of owning this house, my husband was gone. I was left, in this big house with three young children. We were going to have to move.

After doing some looking, I found a nice little home, in good condition, in a wonderful neighborhood. It was within walking distance of the school, store, post office and even the ice cream place. It took only a few months and I was able to buy this home.

God did not take the Israelites through the Philistine country, though that route was shorter. He knew what was better for them and they needed to trust him. I needed to trust him when my path did not go the way I thought was best.

Blessing
Take a walk down your street and pray for your neighbors. If you do not have close neighbors, take the phone book at pray for the people whose names begin with A, B, C, etc. See how far you can get and what God has you pray differently for each letter group.

Move
Stand in a familiar room of your home. Close your eyes and turn around twice. Being very careful, but with your eyes still closed, take a couple of steps. Touch what is around you and identify it. Were you where you thought you were or were you disoriented? Allow God to remind you that even when we are uncertain of our surroundings, he is there to guide us.

Create
Begin writing a story about wandering down an unfamiliar road. Describe what the road is like and what you see. Just keep writing and see where God takes you.

Nourish
Make a casserole or pot of spaghetti. It does not have to be complicated, but make some extra. Keep out enough for yourself and ask God who you should take the rest to.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Go to a local park. Sit on the bench and watch the people. Who do you see? Pray for them.

Pray
Call someone who is related to you and pray for them over the phone.

Snack
Eat something that grows and is yellow.

World Prayer Broadcast
Pray for the CFO camps around the world, that they might walk in God’s plan and not their own, so that people will come to know God.

Rest
Before going to sleep, go outside and look up at the sky. Reach your hands up as high as you can, standing on your toes, like you are trying to reach God. Say (out loud), “Oh God, I love you. Thank you for all you are.”

Life Lesson: Nov 7

7 Nov

How do you live? What are your goals? The promise of life-change hinges on loving others not ourselves.

Meditate
Read Mark 8:31-38. Meditate on verse 33.

Sing
Chorus
I surrender all, I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior, I surrender all

Verse 1
All to Jesus I surrender, All to Him I freely give
I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live.

Verse 2
All to Jesus I surrender, Humbly at His feet I bow.
Worldly pleasures all forsaken, Take me Jesus take me now.

Verse 3
All to Jesus I surrender, Make me Savior wholly Thine.
Let me feel the Holy Spirit, Truly know that Thou art mine.

Verse 4
All to Jesus I surrender, Lord I give myself to Thee.
Fill me with Thy love and power, Let Thy blessing fall on me.

Verse 5
All to Jesus I surrender, Now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation, Glory glory to His name.

Message
Be in silence to hear from God.

Blessing
When you are out today, speak a blessing to the first person you see.

Move
Convert your exercise program into a spiritual time. Every movement of your body has a cadence that can be set to prayer, such as the Lord’s Prayer, Hail Mary or the Doxology.

Create
Draw a picture, using the hand you don’t write with. Ask God what is the point of your drawing.

Nourish
Consider eating half portions or fasting today.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Have you been wanting to play? Let yourself be a child. Visit a playground in a park. Watch the children at play. Buy a coloring book and crayons. Laugh out loud.

Pray
Picture Jesus sitting surrounded by a large assortment of wrapped boxes. He invites you to unwrap each one, because they are gifts for you! Unwrap the gifts of love, joy, peace, forgiveness, good health, strength, endurance, provision of all kinds, hugs, kisses, and good will toward you from others. Lastly, Jesus wraps himself up and presents himself to you. He beckons you to come and accept this gift. As you do, realize that all the other gifts are straw and dust without the gift of Jesus. Realize also that when you accept the gift of Jesus, you must give up yourself in return. Through this exchange, the concerns of God become your concerns and  your concerns begin to fade.

Snacks
Skip your snack today and pray for those who do not have anything to eat.

World Prayer
You have built yourself up in this day with God. Use this energy to pray for things outside yourself.

Sleep
Ask the Lord to help you empty your mind of all the day’s woes and problems and fill it with his peace. Be silent and drift off to sleep.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.
