Meditate
Read Mark 1:9-13.
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.  Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

Meditate on the words of God to Jesus, “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

Sing
Chorus 1
Step into the water
Wade out a little bit deeper
Wet your feet in the water of His love
Step into the water
Wade out a little bit deeper
Come join angels singing praises
To the Lamb of God

Verse 1
It is time we the people
Stand up for what is right
It is time we squared our shoulders back
Raised our swords to fight
For the Bible is our weapon
And the Spirit is our shield
The church needs more of its members
To be workers in the field

Verse 2
There is vict’ry for the Christian
Who walks the narrow way
There has been a prize appointed
For the soul who does not stray
Oh I want to live for Jesus
Be all that I should be
So that I can rest with Him
Forever live eternally

Message
My parents often tell me how proud they are of me and it makes me feel good. One day in particular, my Mother told me that she would be at an upcoming worship service because she “loves it when I lead worship”. Following that service, she introduced me to a couple of her friends and with a smile on her face and an arm around my waist said, “This is my daughter!” My Mother’s comments that day made me feel special. They also gave me a new sense of purpose. I wanted to continue to make my Mother proud. Oh, I have failed and I will fail again, but I know my Mother is still proud and I desire to keep on trying and working to improve.

God, by way of the dove, put his hand around Jesus’ waist and said, “This is my son!” and “I love who you are and what you do.” What strength that must have given Jesus as he entered the wilderness.

Have you been baptized? Have you experienced God’s hand around your waist and his smile as he says, “You are my child and I love you. With you I am well pleased.” Hold on to this as you press through life and strive to do what you are called to do. Take God’s love as your strength.

Blessing
There is someone whom you have influence over. It may be a child, parent, sibling, fellow-worker, or someone else. Contact them and let them know what you like about them. E-mail or letter is OK, but verbally would be best. If you can do it face to face, even better!

Move
Step into the water (take a shy and tentative step forward)
Wade out a little bit deeper (take another step with a little more confidence)
Wet your feet in the water of His love (wiggle your toes in the water)
Step into the water (take a step with full confidence)
Wade out a little bit deeper (take a giant step forward)
Come join angels singing praises (bathe in the water)
To the Lamb of God (raise hands and stretch in the air)

Create
Take five 3×5 cards. Ask God what encouraging message to write on each one. Put them upside down on the table. Ask God to bring a person to mind and then pick a card. Send that card to the person.

Nourish
Drink extra water today. As you drink the water, remember your baptism and be thankful.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Find and enjoy some water. Find a body of water, fountain, aquarium or small fish pond. Enjoy the water by boating, swimming, just watching it. Other options might be to look at pictures of water or soak in the tub. Enjoy the experience of God’s creation of water.

Pray
If there are areas of your life that you know are not pleasing to God, write them down on a piece of paper. Confess each area as sin and repent. Claim God’s forgiveness and his strength to stand against the enemy in these areas. Burn the paper in a safe place.

Snacks
Make jello (sugar free). It’s fun!

World Prayer
Pray for all of the coastal regions of the world.

Sleep
As you go to sleep tonight, pray that your rest will be totally refreshing.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Life Lesson: May 8

8 May

Let’s be honest – how well do we love others?

Meditate

Read 1 John 5:1-6

Sing
Beloved, Let Us Love One Another

Beloved, let us love one another.
For love is from God
And everyone who loves is born of God
and he knows God.
The one who does not love
does not know God for God is love.
Beloved, let us love one another
for love is from God

Message
During a recent Bible study, we were working our way through First John when I made a startling connection. These were not new Scriptures, but two old familiar Scriptures were suddenly connected in a new way. The first passage came from 1 John 3:16 where we decided, as a group, that love was defined as: “laying down one’s life for another.” The second passage came from 1 John 4:7 where we read that God commands us to love each other. We all agreed and were quite happy with ourselves when we decided that we love everyone.

Then… There was a pause… Do we, according to our previous definition, love (lay down our lives for) everyone? Now three are people who I love and I would lay down my life for. Then there are people who I love and hurt when they hurt. Then there are those who I tolerate. Lastly, there are those who I would rather not be around. Do I love everyone? Would I lay down my life for everyone? John then takes this to the next logical conclusion: If I say I love God and hate my brothers and sisters, then I am a liar (1 John 4:20). John previously told us that if we hate our brothers and sisters, we are murderers and cannot live with God (1 John 3:15). As a Bible study group, we came to this final conclusion: If I say I love God, then I must be willing to lay down myself for others. If I am unwilling to set myself aside and raise others up, then I am simply a liar and a murderer. Because of God’s love for me, I must make amends with others and treat everyone as better and more important than me. For more of this, read James!

Blessing
Contact someone who you tend to just “tolerate” and pray a blessing for them.

Move
Get comfortable in a chair or on the floor or bed. Be aware of each body part from your toes to your head. Do not miss any part, moving from the bottom to the top. As you consider each part, tense, hold and release each part. When you are finished, pray that God will release your love for others, just as you have released each body part from tension.

Create
Using a 3×5 card or other small piece of paper, write a blessing to an unknown person. Ask God how many of these you should do and do as many as he tells you.

Nourish
Pick one meal today and whatever you eat, donate the food stuffs for that meal to a local food pantry or soup kitchen.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Find a natural place of beauty, museum or exhibit in your area that you have never been to and go enjoy it. Go even if you think it might not be something you are interested in.

Pray
In prayer; make a list of people who you need to love better. Take a few minutes to pray for each of these people. Give these people the blessing cards you created today.

Snacks
Treat yourself to something you find really yummy. Do not over-do it, but enjoy it. We cannot do this every day, but a treat is something special.

World Prayer
Pray for those areas of the world that are in war.

Sleep
Pray one last blessing on the person you find most difficult before you fall asleep.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Life Lesson: April 24

24 Apr

Be amazed by God. Remember His graciousness toward you.

Meditate
Read Revelation 1:4-8. Read verse 7 over several times.

Sing
Thou Art Worthy¹

Thou art worthy. Thou art worthy.
Thou art worthy, oh Lord.
To receive glory, glory and honor,
glory and honor and power.
For Thou hast created,
hast all things created.
Thou hast created all things.
And for Thy pleasure they are created,
for Thou art worthy, oh Lord.

Message
As much as we hate to admit it, we often tend to become self-centered in our relationship with Jesus. We pray for things we need or we pray intercessory prayers for the needs of others. We thank God for the things He does for us and we get excited about the work that the Holy Spirit is doing in our lives. All of this is good and it has its place, but how often do we just spend time considering the greatness of God? Spend today being amazed by the wonderful God we serve. Instead of expecting God to fill us and speak to us today, give Him your full attention and your praise.

Blessing
Bless the Lord today by serving someone in need.

Move
Sing the song, Alleluia², and move around in worship to God.

Create
Make a list of the attributes of God from A-Z

Nourish
Share your meal with someone and see if you can spend the time talking about how good God is rather than talking with about your troubles or your neighbor.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Go out and take pictures of God’s great creation. If it is a dark, gloomy or rainy day, go anyway and find God in nature. He is there in the great and the small.

Pray
Pray prayers of praise today. These are prayers that only reflect on God and His greatness.

Snacks
Fast from your snack today and spend time praising the name of Jesus. Feed your soul by looking at song, hymns, or Scriptures that speak of praising Jesus.

World Prayer
Using a map or globe, look at each area of the Earth. Place your hand on each part and pray for God’s rule and reign over that area.

Sleep
As you fall asleep tonight, repeat the words of today’s song, Thou Art Worthy

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Life Lesson: April 17

17 Apr

“There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven…” The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us that everything in our lives is an appointment in time. How then should we live?

Meditate
Using Ecclesiastes 3:1-13, read each verse and then sit quiet. Let God bring thoughts to your mind about the relevance of each verse.

Sing
Let go, let the Spirit flow (3x) Let Go and let God!
Praise God (3x) Let Go and let God!
Clap your hands  (3x) Let Go and let God!
Praise the Lord  (3x) Let Go and let God!

Message
It was time. We knew it was close. My Father had stopped eating and drinking. He was refusing his medication. It was a matter of time. There was frustration over his discomfort and there was some fear of the unknown. We did not know what that last moment would look like, but we certainly knew what his next step would be. We knew he would walk into the arms of Jesus.

During these days, Dad would take people by the hand and pray a blessing on them. He would look in their eyes to say,”I love you.” He would sing praise to God and hold hands with his family. Every grandchild received a word of blessing from Grandpa.

This was his time to receive comfort, love and care, but it was also his time to use his last breath to bless others. We also used this time to weep and to laugh, to embrace and to love, to hold on and to let go. All of us had time to speak and to listen. The blessing of this time our family shared was a gift from God. We honor each moment we had before Dad went home.

Blessing
Choose someone you know who has a physical condition that prevents them from moving easily. Pray for them and picture them dancing with the Lord.

Move
Create motions and really stretch your body, as you sing the song:
Let go and let God have His wonderful way,
Let go and let God have His way.
Your burden will vanish,
Your night turn to day;
Let go and let God have His way.

Create
Write a letter to God. On the back of the paper, write his response to you. Address it to yourself and give it to a friend. Ask the friend to mail it at some point in the next year, without telling you when.

Nourish
Be mindful as you eat lunch today. Feel the shape and texture of the food. Notice the flavor of each bite.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Go in your room, shut the door, set the timer for five minutes and put on your favorite song. Dance until the timer goes off.

Pray
Write your prayer concerns on a piece of paper. Tear the paper up into little pieces. If you can safely burn them, do so. If you can not burn them safely, just take them and throw them in any trash can (not in your home). Know that God removes our cares and replaces them with His peace.

Snacks
Have a snack that consists of three different colors. (M&M’s do not count!)

World Prayer
If you can, go to a local nursing home. Walk the halls and pray for the names on the doors. If you can not go in, just picture the halls, the beds and the staff.

Sleep
As you go to bed tonight, let God bring people to mind and just thank Him for their place in your life.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Life Lesson: April 3

3 Apr

Life comes from light – both in the natural and spiritual world. Think about what that means to you.

Meditate

Read John 8:12 & Matthew 5:14. Think about God being pure, holy light and now think about that light being transferred to you.

Sing
Jesus is the light Jesus is the light, light of the world (3x) Jesus is the light, light of the world Jesus is the light, light of the world He’s ever shining in my soul! (CFO Sings, pg 230)

Message
In the natural, all life is sustained by light. Light is the energy resource of photosynthesis. Plants, which live by photosynthesis, use light energy to make food: sugar, starch, amino acids, proteins, fats, oils, vitamins…. All the food we need. That food energy flows directly to plant eaters and is the energy resource behind even steak and eggs. When plants and animals die, they become food for the decaying organisms: bacteria, fungi, etc. All are fed or energized by the energy of light.

In the unseen dimensions, life also comes from light, the light of the Spirit flowing from the Son. (Isn’t it interesting that son and sun are pronounced the same in the English language?) The spiritual light energy came into our bodies in the womb and we continue to live as we remain in the stream of that light – we live forever. But we may not recognize the light. If we turn away, we sense the spiritual shadows. When we turn to the light, when we walk in the light, we are forgiven and have fellowship with Jesus, who is the light. And we become more and more like him until we too are the light of the world.

Blessing
Bless the natural work you see around you. Thank God for flowers or trees or skies or seas. Pick up some clutter that you find in nature. Then bless someone with nature – give a flower today.

Move
Take a little walk if you are able. Walk down your street or road, moving your elbows (keeping them close to your ribs) as you walk. If you cannot walk that way, move what you can and breathe deeply.

Create
Get some newspaper and make newspaper sculpture. Use masking tape to hold what you shape in place. A tight roll of paper can make a stem. Torn strips can make leaves or petals. A stand can be made with a piece of cardboard. Can you make a tree, a flower, a bird, or a dog?

Nourish
Eat food that comes from leaves. That is not just lettuce and spinach. It is almost all food. The meat you eat comes first from leaves of grass.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Work on a puzzle with a picture of light. A sunrise or sunset would do.

Pray
Thank God for light: the light of the sun and the light of the Son. Pray for needs by sending the light of the Son into the needy situation. Pray that a person, a specific person, will see or feel the light of Jesus.

Snacks
Eat some nuts and share some nuts. If nuts will not work, due to allergies, try popcorn. Remember to share your snack.

World Prayer
In your divinely enabled imagination, see the sun sending light onto the rotating earth. See the light removing and eliminating darkness – The darkness of hunger and cold. Remember a place of special need and pray for the sun to soak into that place.

Sleep
Though natural darkness goes with sleep, finish your day by thanking God for the light. Remember that the spiritual light is your blanket of protection and your pillow of renewal.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Life Lesson: January 30

30 Jan

Meditate

Read Matthew 5 : 1-12. Think about what it means to bless and be blessed.

Sing
Vs 1 Blest be the tie that binds /  Our hearts in Christian love / The fellowship of kindred minds / Is like to that above
Vs 2 Before our Father’s throne /  We pour our ardent prayers /  Our fears our hopes /  Our aims are one / Our comforts and our cares
Vs 3 We share our mutual woes /  Our mutual burdens bear /  And often for each other flows / The sympathizing tear
Vs 4 When we asunder part /  It gives us inward pain /  But we shall still / Be joined in heart / And hope to meet again

Message
Recently, after reading the Beatitudes, I saw what Jesus meant about what blessing is and who is blessed.  Those who are poor in spirit are blessed because they will inherit the kingdom of Heaven. Inheriting the Kingdom of Heaven is the blessing. God blesses those who mourn, because He comforts them. Comfort is the blessing. The blessing of the meek is that they will inherit the earth. Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness are blessed, because God fills them with righteousness. He blesses the merciful by being merciful to them. The pure in heart are blessed in that they will see God. God blesses peacemakers because they are called His sons. And finally, those who are persecuted because they are righteous or because they belong to Jesus are blessed because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. These are the blessings.

I realize that when I ask God to bless someone, I am not asking for that person’s healing or prosperity. I am asking for that person to be transformed into the kind of person God blesses.  Then, the blessing is automatic.

Blessing
Adapt this prayer for someone in your family, for one of your friends or for one of your acquaintances:
“ Heavenly Father, may (my daughter, my friend) be merciful because You are showing them mercy. May (my friend) have a pure heart so they can see You in their life today.”

Move
Take a walk around your block and pray God’s blessings on each house.

Create
Think about a time when you felt lonely. Can you recognize others who are lonely? Have you had a time to be a friend to someone else who was lonely? How might you pray for them? Write your prayer/blessing.

Nourish
Eat a raw fruit or vegetable that you have never tried before. Buy an extra and share it with a neighbor.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Visit a museum.

Pray
Find the clergy listing in the phone book. Pray for all clergy in your phone book, asking God to bless them (transform them). Concentrate on the person you are praying for, not the theological differences you may have.

Snacks
Have a healthy alternative to ice cream sandwiches. Use low-fat whipped cream between two chocolate graham crackers. Freeze until cream is set.

World Prayer
Before you go to sleep, pray for those who are being persecuted for being Christians. Thank God, that He has given them the Kingdom of Heaven.

Sleep
Before falling asleep, jot down as many blessings as you can think of. Count your blessings.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Meditate

Read Matthew 6: 5-15 and Luke 11:2-4 Let God speak to your heart about His Will being done on earth.

Sing
Vs 1 Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me
Let there be peace on earth. The peace that was meant to be
With God as our Father, brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother, in perfect harmony

Vs 2 Let peace begin with me. Let this be the moment now.
With ev’ry step I take, let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.

Message
We so often speed through the Lord’s prayer without much consideration of the words. I am not sure how fast Jesus said these words, but I am certain he meant every word.

Notice that before anything else, Jesus praises the Father. This is not a matter of flattery, but a matter of fact. God is Father and God is Holy. Praising God first, puts us in the right frame of mind to seek God and His will in our life and in asking for our needs to be met.

Secondly, Jesus lifts his requests. He asks for substance, forgiveness, and righteousness. He is not looking ahead, but just considering today’s needs. He is not just concerned about just the physical needs, but takes into account, body, mind and soul.  God’s goodness does not have to be gathered in great amount, but He will provide for us each day. We can depend on him one day at a time. Jesus gave us this prayer as a model. It would do us well to use it each day and consider what we are asking for.

Blessing
Pray and ask God to place someone on your mind. Send them the card you will make in creatives.

Move
Pray the Lord’s Prayer with actions:
Our Father in heaven, (look up, and begin to reach up with both arms)
May Your name be honored.  (bow your head)
May Your Kingdom come soon. (bring one hand down, close to your body)
May your will be done here on earth (bring the other hand down and swing low, brushing hand over the ground)
Just as it is in Heaven. (swing arms back toward the sky & wave hands back and forth like tree branches)
Give us our food for today, (bring your arms down, with palms up)
And forgive us our sins (cross arms across your chest)
Just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. (put palms together)
And don’t let us yield to temptation, (push hands down and across body, left to right)
But deliver us from the evil one. (cross wrists, then break away, as if chains have been broken)
(make up your own movements for the last three lines)
For Yours is the kingdom,
And the power,
And the glory forever.

Create
Open your Bible to the Psalms and read the first one you find. Read it two or three times. Pick the verse or verses that strike you and write them on a card. Make two copies. One to memorize this week and one to send to a person that God will show you.

Nourish
Stick with fruits and vegetables today. Drink an extra three glasses of water.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Visit the local animal shelter today.

Pray
Make a list of your local, state and federal leaders. Pray for them. Send them a note of encouragement.

Snacks
Find a style of cheese you have never eaten and try it. Share it with a friend.

World Prayer
Pray for those who do not know Jesus. Ask God if there is anyone He wants you to pray specifically for and if there is anyone you should speak to and share the Good News.

Sleep
As you fall asleep, say The Lord’s Prayer. Say it over and over until you drift off.

From morning until night, God wants us to worship and commune with Him. Start your day in His Word and then weave throughout the day these elements of devotion, worship, contemplation and service to others.

Meditate
Read Psalm 20:1-9. Think about the fact that when you call out to God, He answers you.

Sing: Blessed Be Your Name
Blessed be your name
in the land that is plentiful,
where your streams of abundance flow.
Blessed Be your name.
And blessed be your name
when I’m found in the desert place
though I walk through the wilderness.
Blessed be your name.
Chorus:
Every blessing you pour out I’ll turn back to praise
and when the darkness closes in Lord still I will say,
blessed be the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Blessed be Your Glorious name.”

Message
It was 3:30 am and I had not slept. The previous day was like no other that I ever experienced prior or wanted to experience again. About 20 hours ago, my best friend and the grandmother of my children died. She had struggled with cancer for quite some time and I knew she was tired. It was a blessing and I knew that she was with God, but that did not take away the ache in my heart. I felt a weight in my soul that I could not explain, and a cry in my heart that could not make it out.

As I sat in the dim light of the kitchen, the rest of the house asleep, I opened her Bible to the Psalms (she loved the Psalms). The first thing that I read was, “May the Lord answer you when you are in distress”. Distress. I was in distress.

I continued to read and although my pain did not cease, I found hope for tomorrow in these words: “The name of the God of Jacob will protect me”, “He will send me help from the sanctuary”, “He will give me the desires of my heart”, “I will be victorious”, “The Lord saves his anointed”, “I will rise up and stand firm”, “God will answer me when I call.”

Blessing
Others Ask God to tell you who you are to bless today. What does he want to say to this person through you? Make sure you go and tell them. Do not keep this to yourself.

Move
Stand up, stretch as high as you can and say (out loud), “Praise you, Father God.” Reach down and touch the floor (carefully go as low as you can) and say, “Praise you, Jesus the Christ.” Reach your arms out to the side, stretching your hands out as far as possible and say, “Praise you, Holy Spirit.” Do this three times, each time emphasizing a different person of God.

Create
Take five minutes and think again about God hearing you when in distress. Write a note to yourself from God in response to your concern about a distressful situation.

Nourish
Think about what you have eaten in the past 24 hours. Have you had something fresh and green from God’s garden?

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Take a walk, even if it is five minutes, around your home or office.

Pray
Ask God who he wants you to pray for. Make a phone call and let that person know that God wants you to pray for them and do it. Do it on the phone right then. If you get voice mail, leave the prayer.

Snack
Have a snack, but keep it healthy and remember that a snack is a small amount of food. Also remember that a snack is best shared in fellowship. If you can combine your snack with your prayer group time, that would be great.

World Prayer
Let God tell you what people group to pray for. Take some time to pray for those who have lost loved ones.

Sleep
Be honest. Did you get enough sleep last night? If not, go to bed a little earlier tonight. Even if it is 10 minutes. If you watch TV before bed, turn it off and try praying instead. If you have had enough sleep, take time to thank God for good sleep.

From morning until night, we are to worship and commune with God. Start your day in His Word and throughout the day weave in these elements of time with him.

Life Lesson: December 26

26 Dec

Meditate
The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121:8. Consider that God knows your past, present and future, and that he loves you.

Sing: I Could Sing of Your Love Forever
Over the mountains and the sea,
your river runs with love for me and
I will open up my heart and let the healer set me free.
I’m happy to be in the truth and I will daily lift my hands.
For I will always sing of when your love came down.
Chorus:
I could sing of your love forever,
I could sing of your love forever,
I could sing of your love forever,
I could of your love forever.

Message
After reading through the Upper Room devotional this morning, I bowed my head to pray. The devotional spoke about life’s mountains that we need to climb, with God’s help.  I have had those mountains in my life. Mountains of debt, divorce, hurting children, pain, loss and the list goes on. At this moment, though, I found that I was not staring at a large, dark mountain in the distance. I could see the plains, stretching out before me, with the sun rising in the distance and I smiled.

I spent some time in prayer and praise to my Wonderful, Merciful God who brought me over the mountains of my past. I know that there will be mountains in my future and I will look to God for help over them, but for now He has given me a time of rest. I thanked God for reminding me to be thankful in the plateaus of life.  I also found that I could pray for others in crisis, based on the knowledge that God brought me through and will deliver them also.

Blessing
Write out a prayer for someone today. Mail it to them.

Move

Create motions as you sing this song.
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty,
there’s nothing my God can not do.
The Mountains are His, the rivers are His,
the stars are His handy work too.
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty,
there’s nothing my God can not do.

Create
Write a letter to God. Spend some time in prayer, asking God to respond to your letter. Turn your paper over and write God’s response. Put the letter in an envelope, address it to yourself and put a stamp on it. Put the letter in a convenient place, so that the next time you are in a city away from where you live, drop it in the mail box. You can also ask a loved one to mail it for you, some time in the future.

Nourish
Did you eat three regular meals today? Be aware of the portion sizes today.

Rest
Find 10 minutes to be still. Do nothing during this time. This is God’s time to renew you in mind, body and spirit.

Recreation
Take a walk outside. Look at nature. Really look at three different plants, animals or insects. Notice the intricacies of God’s design.

Pray
Call or write to someone and ask them to pray for you. If they are willing to do it right then, allow them the privilege.

Snack
Have a light snack of seeds and nuts.

World Prayer Broadcast
Let God tell you what people group to pray for. Pray for those who are facing mountains that seem too big.

Rest
As you fall asleep tonight picture the beauty of God’s creation. Remember Psalm 121:8.

From morning until night, we are to worship and commune with God. Start your day in His Word and throughout the day weave in these elements of time with him.
